UAE Golden Residence Permit for Skilled Professionals
Ten years for senior employees, and three conditions stack: a monthly salary floor, an attested degree, and an occupation on the qualifying list.
This is the route that turns a normal job into a decade of residence. It is also the route where paperwork, not salary, decides the outcome. The occupation code assigned by MOHRE matters more than the job title on your contract, and a degree that has never been attested is a routine refusal.
One caveat on the numbers. The federal golden visa page was updated in July 2026 but does not itemise this stream at all, so the AED 30,000 figure is reported rather than published on the page we opened.

Application flow
- Confirm your occupation sits at skill level 1, 2 or 3 in the MOHRE classification, not just that your title sounds senior.
- Obtain your degree and have it attested through the relevant chain.
- Collect a MOHRE-registered employment contract and bank statements showing the salary actually landing.
- File the golden visa application through ICP or GDRFA Dubai.
- Complete medical screening and Emirates ID enrolment.
- Collect the ten year permit.
- At renewal, re-evidence the salary or the qualifying status.
Good fit
A well-paid professional with a degree and an employer willing to supply clean paperwork. Someone whose salary lands in a UAE bank account in full and whose contract is registered with MOHRE. People who intend to stay in the same occupational band, because the qualification travels with the job.
Poor fit
Freelancers, commission-only earners, and anyone whose pay is partly unbanked allowances. People with uncapped or unattested degrees, who will lose weeks to a fixable problem. Anyone planning to leave employment, since the permit is not cancelled automatically but the renewal basis disappears.
Watchpoints
- The salary must be evidenced, not asserted. A MOHRE-registered contract plus bank statements. Cash top-ups and unregistered allowances are excluded from the calculation.
- The degree must be attested. This is one of the most common refusal reasons and it is entirely avoidable.
- Occupation code beats job title. “Manager” on a business card does not make you skill level 1. The classification is administrative and you can check it.
- Losing the job does not cancel the visa, but it removes the renewal basis. You need to re-qualify or switch route before the permit expires.
- 2026 changes are being applied unevenly. New categories were added, including nurses, teachers, content creators, e-sports professionals and Waqf donors, and others were adjusted. Staff in different emirates are still retraining, so identical files can be read differently.
