Visa Rumah Kedua (E33)
Park capital in an Indonesian state bank and Indonesia gives you five years, with no company and no sponsor. That is what the second home permit buys, and the deposit carries the application.
The word “home” misleads in two directions. This is not a property visa, although a property purchase is an alternative way to qualify. And it is not permanent: the permit starts at five years, can be extended once, and stops at ten. What it actually sells is a decade of residence with no sponsor, no company and no annual renewal queue.

Application flow
- Choose the qualifying asset: a USD 130,000 deposit at a state-owned bank, or a property purchase at USD 1,000,000.
- Open the account or complete the purchase. The guarantee must be in place within 90 days of the ITAS being issued.
- Apply online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id with passport, photographs and the financial evidence.
- Pay the fee and receive the visa electronically.
- Enter Indonesia and complete ITAS issuance.
- If you intend to work, study or run an activity, file the multiple activity report with the issuing office before starting.
- At year 5, file the single extension, or convert if a conversion is available to you.
Good fit
A financially independent person or couple over 50 who wants five years without renewals, without a company and without asking anyone for a sponsor. Someone who would hold USD 130,000 in cash anyway and wants the residence attached to it. People who want a base for family visits rather than a business.
Poor fit
Anyone reading “second home” as permanent. The ceiling is ten years and the money is locked for the life of the permit. Also people whose capital is in property, equities or a business, since the deposit must sit in an Indonesian state bank, and anyone planning to earn locally in a salaried role.
Watchpoints
- The deposit is immobilised, not invested. It must be maintained at the committed level for the whole permit. Spend it and the permit falls away.
- The rupiah figure you will see quoted is stale. The official requirement is USD 130,000. Several sites still say IDR 2,000,000,000, which was the figure at an older exchange rate and is now about USD 111,000. At IDR 18,000 the requirement is nearer IDR 2,340,000,000.
- Property means an apartment or condominium. A villa on freehold land does not qualify, and foreigners cannot hold freehold title in any case.
- “Work permitted with a report” is not a work permit. The multiple activity report covers self-directed activity. A salaried job with an Indonesian employer still needs a work ITAS and manpower approval.
- The PR question is unresolved. The immigration office’s conversion checklist lists second home ITAS, but article 54 of the Immigration Act names only religious workers, workers, investors and the elderly. Do not buy this expecting a KITAP at year 3.
- Ten years, then out. A non-elderly holder has no realistic route beyond the ceiling on this instrument.
